Talk Ink (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides a voice-to-text dictation application for macOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely via our authentication provider).
Subscription Information
We collect payment and subscription status information through our payment processor to manage your plan.
Voice and Audio Data
When you use Talk Ink, your microphone captures audio for transcription. This audio is processed in real-time and is never stored on our servers. Audio data is held temporarily in memory only for the duration of processing.
Transcription Data
The text generated from your voice is returned directly to your device. We do not store, log, or retain any transcription content on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide and maintain the Talk Ink service
- Process your transcription requests
- Manage your account and subscription
- Communicate important service updates
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to delivering the service.
3. Third-Party Services
Talk Ink uses the following third-party services to operate:
Transcription Processing
We use OpenAI's Whisper API to transcribe your audio. All API calls include the store=false parameter, which opts your data out of retention and model training. Audio is processed and immediately discarded by OpenAI.
AI Text Processing
When AI editing features are enabled, your transcribed text is sent to OpenAI's API for grammar correction and style application. These calls also include store=false. No text is retained.
Authentication
We use Supabase for secure account authentication. Supabase stores only your email address and encrypted password.
Payment Processing
Subscription payments are handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.
Infrastructure
Our API runs on Cloudflare Workers. No user data is logged or stored at the infrastructure level.
4. Data We Never Collect
We do not collect:
- Voice recordings or audio files
- Transcription text or content
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Browsing behavior or app usage patterns
- Device fingerprints or hardware identifiers
- Location data
- Contact lists or address books
- Crash reports or diagnostic data
5. Local-Only Mode
Talk Ink offers a Local-Only Mode that uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. When this mode is enabled, no audio or text data leaves your device. All processing happens entirely on your Mac.
6. Data Security
All data transmitted between Talk Ink and our servers is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS/WSS). Your audio is never written to disk — it exists only in memory during processing. We enforce store=false on all third-party API calls to prevent data retention.

- Export your account data
- Opt out of cloud processing by using Local-Only Mode

9. Children's Privacy
Talk Ink is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date.
